{RECIPE} Carob Dipped Dog Biscuits with Peanut Sprinkles

DIY carob dipped dog treats with nut sprinkles

These pretty little treats are very simple and can be whipped up in a flash using pre-made homemade or store bought dog biscuits, making them a great DIY to try with kids or last-minute gift idea. Your dogs will love the smell of the melted peanut butter and carob, so be prepared for puppy dog eyes while you "cook" them a little something special.

🥄 Treat Ingredients:

Peanut butter
Carob drops
Dog treat biscuits
Optional: chopped peanuts, coconut, or other dog-friendly sprinkles

🥄 Making the Treats:

Line a plate with baking parchment or waxed paper. Melt together peanut butter and carob in roughly equal measure (quantities can be scaled to the number of treats you're making).  Dip one or both ends of your biscuit into the the carob mixture, lay on the parchment plate, and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Allow to cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator for approximately 20-30 minutes.

Tips and Tricks:
  • Carob drops can be tricky to melt compared to chocolate, as the carob is usually drier/lower fat. Combining the carob with the peanut butter and gently microwaving them together (with frequent stirring breaks) can help.
  • Individual carob and peanut butters may vary, but in my experiences to date equal roughly equal measures set to a firm fudgey solid texture. You can use a little less if you want a harder set or swap in a little coconut oil if you need a runnier liquid.
  • Too hot for candy coatings in your kitchen?  Just pop them in the fridge to set and store.
