Naturally Green St. Patrick's Day Wheatgrass and Kale Treats

Oh to be sure to be sure, these glorious green dog treats are all natural and perfect for St. Patrick's Day! This is our final pre-Paddy's Day post before we hop into Easter mode next week. It's a whirlwind of fun this time of year, isn't it? So many holidays, so many TREATS!  Oli's birthday will be coming up shortly after Easter as well. He's the big 1-2 this year so it will be a grand celebration indeed (pawty ideas and suggestions welcome!).

These naturally green dog bone biscuits were made using the same recipe as our naturally green Christmas trees. When I saw how beautifully green the trees baked up, I knew that it would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day treaties, or anytime you're felling green really!  Wheatgrass gives things a bright vibrant green colour whereas I find that kale gives things a deeper darker slightly muddy green hue. You can use either in this recipe, or (my favourite!) use a bit of both to get a nice rich green. Individual powder will vary in colour and colour strength, so play around and have some fun experimenting with tints.

🦴 Hungry for more tasty treats?  You can explore from our treat navigation page, hop straight into our homemade dog treat ideas in the blog archives, search the blog from our sidebar, or use the labels below this post to find other recipes that might be of interest. Remember, treats (bought or homemade) are for spoiling your pup in moderation. We share ideas here from treats that we make ourselves for our pets, but different animals will have different preferences (likes/dislikes) and dietary needs. Some pets may have special dietary requirements and/or food allergies/intolerances. If you are ever in doubt or have questions about what's suitable for your pet, have a chat with your trusted vet.

  1. You always have such beautiful cookies, ours barely like the cookie cutter shape :-) :-)

    1. I'm sure they're still yummy though! I occasionally have some horrendous fails, but the dogs never seem to mind eating my ugly mistakes. Taste over looks! :)

We love comments almost as much as treats! 💌 Say hello and share your thoughts.
