Look who has come all the way to New Zealand for a visit! It’s Pee Wee and Rose from Doggy Dessert Chef in special guest form. After all that travel, Pee Wee and Rose were hungry and feeling little homesick, so they decided to help bake treats to share with their new friends. Then, after a good night’s snooze to shake their jet lag, they headed out for a walking tour with Humphrey of all his favourite places.

Baking with the Doggy Dessert Chefs
Clever Pee Wee and Rose know the best way to make furfriends is with food. They baked a special batch of Sweet Potato Bacon Treats. Bacon! That’s a rare treat around here, and Oli and Humphrey were drooling in anticipation while Pee Wee and Rose worked in the kitchen. Our guests weren’t sure about the strange kumara things we gave them instead of sweet potatoes but decided that the local version was pretty yummy indeed. They couldn’t find the basil in the kitchen but used some rosemary instead. Delicious. Great work, Doggy Chefs!

Humphrey's Virtual Tour of New Zealand
With jet lag shaken and some treats to recharge the energy levels, the guests headed out to explore with Humphrey as their tour guide. Pee Wee really liked the giant tree-sized silver ferns along Humphrey’s favourite paths. Rose liked the autumn leaves, but thought it was strange that our seasons were reversed. Pee Wee also spent some time watching the toilet to see if that swirled backwards. Crazy dogs! After a roll in the leaves and a splash in the river, it was off to the beach. Humphrey convinced them to dip their toes in the Tasman, even if it was a little stormy and chilly. Pee Wee and Rose liked our black volcanic sand, which gave them great camouflage for trying to sneak up on sea gulls. All that walking and splashing left everyone tuckered out. After tasting some real kiwi kiwi for a snack, the new friends all curled up for a well deserved nap. Then it was time for Pee Wee and Rose to continue their adventures somewhere new.
