Celebrating Oli's 12th Barkday
The fancy pawty was a day after his birthday so that the family could be together. I may have gone a little overboard on the baking, but it’s been a tough year for Oli and turning twelve deserves a fuss indeed. Plus, the freezer needed to be re-stocked with treats. I did have to temper my flavour choices a little though. Our house is on the market in preparation for our upcoming move, so doggone delicious stinky fishes were a no-go. Boo! Open home and viewing-friendly smells only.
Celebration Cake and Treats
Oli’s birthday cake this year was a pumpkin and peanut butter mini cake with coconut yogurt frosting. It’s one of my favourite decorated birthday cakes to date and the boys loved their nibbles too, although I’m pretty sure they’d still prefer a meatloaf cake if given the option. Sorry, boys! Blame the real estate agents and the risk of last minute viewing requests. Sigh.
Over the top? Yes. Worth every minute for the smile on that old boy’s face? Yes. Fingers crossed for more crazy birthday fun next year? Yes. Live and love with no regrets, furfriends! Every day together is something to be enjoyed and celebrated. I will be sharing the cake recipe in an upcoming post, as well as the homemade topper treats, our stamped golden birthday bone treats, and other golden goodies, so stay tuned!
Birthday Love and Wishes
Thank you for all of the love you’ve shared with both our boys since we started this blog, for being party of Oli’s world this past year. I’d especially like to thank you for the kind words, messages, thoughts, and other support you’ve shared with us in the lead-up and recovery from Oli’s cataract surgery. It’s been a tough year for sure, but we’re beyond lucky to have this happy golden oldie with us for yet another birthday, and a happy healthy birthday at that. Hooray!
We love receiving your birthday wishes for Oli (I read them out to him), so please pop by our social media and say hello. Love and licks from our furfamily to yours!
