{RECIPE} Pretty Pastel Pupsicle Easter Dog Treats

A bowl of colourful frozen dog treats with pastel polka dot napkins and ribbon

Pupsicle season is nearing an end here, just as things start to warm up for our northern furfriends. This may be our last batch before chilly weather arrives. Boo! These simple treats were created as an add-in to our posting cycle to go along with our stained glass gummies which use similar natural add-ins for colour - but you'll have to wait until next week's post for the full details. Moohahha...

{RECIPE} Berry Bacon Barkmas Bone Dog Treats

Dalmatian dog begging for a pink bone shaped dog treat

Berry bacon barkmas bones...say that 10 times fast! :) These treats combine yummy strawberry (a dog favourite around here) with the irresistible scent/taste of bacon. Strawberries are in season during our Christmas holidays; however, frozen berries are fine for baking treats any time of year.  Any treat that gets crazy googly eyes from our beloved old Oli makes all the baking effort worthwhile!

{RECIPE} Cranberry Chicken Christmas Cookie Dog Treats

Bowl of red dog treats on a green and white polka dot napkin

Mmmm...the holidays are so close we can almost taste them! It's one month until Christmas, and here's the first of our barkmas-themed posts for this year. Woofs! As blog dogs, our boys taste test holiday and special occasion treats well before the calendar (they never complain!) and if you are currently swimming in leftover turkey, dry turkey meat would make a great substitute for the cooked chicken in this recipe. You can bake and freeze your treats or (like often do, and as was used in these treats) freeze some small batches of cooked meat for future use. Winner winner, chicken dinner!

{RECIPE} Banana Beetroot "Red Velvet" Pupcake Dog Treats

Red beet muffins on a blue polka dot table with a card saying "A party without cake is just a meeting"

These doggy muffin treats are delicious, dense, moist, and a deep dark "red velvet" shade thanks to a yummy (and healthy!) combination of carob and beetroot. We don't often do doggy cakes here other than barkday parties, but I couldn't resist working on a velvety red pupcake recipe and here it is in honour of our third blogiversary! Three years ago (after much encouragement from folks who knew about my crazy treats and toys) the dogs got their own blog and the makings of Dalmatian DIY were born. Thanks to all of you who have joined in our crazy antics along the way, opened your hearts to Oli and Humphrey, and been part of our blog and social media world. We look forward to creating and sharing more in years to come.

{RECIPE} Sardine and Cheese Dog Treats (Naturally Pink!)

Pink bone shaped homemade dog treats

With the chaos and fun of Christmas behind us, it's time for us to start our Valentine's posts, yay! Feel the love, furfriends!  Nothing says love to our boys quite like something super stinky and delicious, and fishy treats are particularly irresistible. Sardines puree to a not-so-appetising greige colour, so these treats get an all-natural colour boost from beetroot powder.  Delicious and nutritious!

{RECIPE} "Jelly Tip" Carob and Yogurt Gummy Dog Treats

These doggone delicious treats were inspired by the classic kiwi Jelly Tip ice cream treats. For our furfriends overseas, Jelly Tips are an ice cream cream stick treat of vanilla ice cream topped with raspberry jelly (the jelly tip) and coated in chocolate, and have been made by local manufacturers Tip Top since 1951. It's a kiwi icon!  I've been wanting to share a carob gummy recipe with you for a while and simply couldn't get my brain past the combination of chocolate and rosy red jelly. And really...can you blame me? So let's dogify it!

{RECIPE} “Red Velvet” Doggy Truffle Treats

Homemade red velvet beetroot dog truffle treats on a table with gift bags and bows

These naturally coloured doggy truffles are easy to make and pretty doggone healthy.  The beetroot and coconut oil/flour base gets a delicious boost of puptastic smalls/flavours from the peanut butter and carob, but they also help to deepening of the natural colouring of the mixture into a darker rich velvety red.  Rolled in snowy white coconut, they make a beautiful festive holiday treat!

Pink Valentine's Day Beet Dog Treats (Four Ways!)

Homemade pink beetroot dog treats made with cookie stamps

Beetroot gives these Valentine dog treats a natural bright pink colour (and a boost of dog-safe veggie goodness).  The homemade treat dough is a beautiful bright pink playdough-like mix, which works great for rolling, shaped cutting, and stamping (as shown), but is just a pretty in simple flattened-ball cookies.  If you want make these extra special, carob drop "kiss" toppers look great with the pink, as does a carob "chocolate icing".
