DIY Combination Tug and Squeaky Halloween Spider Toy
This Halloween spider toy combines all the fun of a squeaky soft dog toy with the longer-lasting stretchy goodness of a woven tug dog toy. If the spider body succumbs to the inevitable tyranny of squeaker frenzied doggy bliss, the legs are still plenty of fun on their own. Yeah! And it's crazy fun - there was a frenzy of dog excitement over this spider toy. I had some scraps in my stash and extra black fleece kicking around, so I figured why not bet a little creative (and silly). Black fleece is a Dalmatian fur magnet...furry spider legs before it was even off my craft table! Sigh...

DIY Birthday Candle Dog Tug Toy
Humphrey loves tug toys, so I decided to make him something extra special for his birthday. I hinted that something fun and fleecy was in the works when I shared last Friday's instructions for making a round twist box knot tug toy, which is what gives the body of our candle its diagonal colour banding.

How to Weave a Basic Loop Dog Tug Toy
After Friday's DIY Olympic-inspired post, we had a reader request for extra information about how to transition from a basic straight tug toy into a basic loop tug toy, so we are adding in a quick how-to post before we share our usual Monday recipe. Here are the steps for a basic loop as well as instruction/links for a few variations. We hope this helps and, as always, please don't be shy to comment/message at anytime if you need a hand with our projects. :)

DIY Olympic-Inspired Dog Tug Toy Ideas

With the Olympics just around the corner, why not have some creative fun and games at home with your pup with a simple tug toy in your favourite Olympic colour(s) (or go completely overboard with all five!) or get pup-triotic with your national colours for cheering together?

DIY Gold Silver and Bronze Medal Dog Tug Toys
I would say "Let the Games begin!" but around here, the games never end. We have a special collection of Olympic-inspired toys and treats to share with you over the next few weeks. These medal tug toys are so cute (and fun) and are deceptively simple - two tugs (one for the medal, one for the ribbon) made using our basic box knot woven dog tug toy are knotted together to form each toy.

DIY Easter Bunny Softie (Big and Small) Guest Post
This post is a collaboration with our partner blog, Creativity Unmasked. Oli was so excited about his new homemade squeaky Easter bunny toy that he couldn't resist a few nibbles before I could even snap a photo! Look at that drool! He wasn't going to give it up, either, keeping a possessive paw securely on his prize.

DIY Multi-Strand Tug Toy with Loop Handle
When playing with our dogs, I'm often relegated to clinging to whatever drooly end is closest at hand and find myself threading my fingers through the fleece for slippery grip in fierce tugging competitions. This DIY tug toy combines the convenience of a loop with multi-tug tails for multi-dog fun. Our toy has two tails for dual-doggy playtime, but you can add as many as you wish for more dogs or just for fun.

Woven Fleece Carrot Dog Tug Toy
Does your dog love carrots? Ours do, especially Humphrey - check out the little carrot thief at work! Although Easter is more typically associated with sweet treats, these is nothing wrong with a crunchy carrot stick every now and then either. For a little interactive fun, why not create your own Easter carrot tug toy?

DIY Cupid's Arrow Valentine's Day Dog Toy
This combination tug and squeaky softie Valentine's Day dog toy is sure to set puppy dog hearts everywhere a pitter-patter. To make it you will need a length of fleece (or other suitable material), some contrasting fleece offcuts, scissors, and if you would like to include the optional arrowhead heart, some additional fleece for the heart, stuffing, a squeaker (optional), coordinating thread, a needle.

DIY for Dogs: Square Knot Fleece Loop Tug Toy
For those of you who loved our square knot fleece dog tug toy (thanks!), you'll be happy to hear that we find ourselves needing to make a new tug toy every month or two, thanks to the destructive dog teamwork of "Sharky McFang" and "Oli the Ripper"! Oli prefers a nice loop to get his mouth through, so here is a simple little variation for turning a basic square knot fleece dog tug toy into a loop and tail tug toy.

DIY for Dogs: Square Knot Fleece Tug Toy
As some of you may already have seen on our social media posts, our puppy is much harder on his toys than our older boy ever was. I won't name any brand names here, but some VERY expensive heavy-duty dog toys have lasted for mere minutes in his happy little mouth. I am in no way a pioneer of fleece dog toys (there are many different DIYs out there). After a number of less than robust attempts, we finally made with a toy that both dogs enjoy and is able to survive for weeks of vigorous play, so we though we would try and share some simple visual instructions to help others who would like to try something similar.
