DIY Fitted Envelope-Style Rear Closure Pet Bet Covers

Dalmatian yawning laying on a stack of black and white dog beds

Our old water resistant dog bed covers have worked fantastic, but after several years of hard wear under paws and claws, shuffling around indoors/outdoors, and ferrying through our move, they were rather worn. More important than just looking a bit shabby, the scratched and worn tops had compromised their water resistance. Pretty good durability considering they were made with clearance bin table cloths, though! In addition to the old beds, I also had cutoffs from the making of our window seat and a few other projects that could be put to good use if covered, so dog bed cover making was added to the to-do list. I watched for a great sale and then picked up some durable outdoor fabric for my covers in my go-to shades of grey, black and white, coordinating with the rest of our home.

DIY (Cosy Quick Dry) Layered Dog Blankets with Bound Edges

Dalmatian dog lying down with stacks of cosy plush dog blankets

This is the second part of today's snuggly double post, showing how basic bound edge DIY blankets can be easily adapted to layered blankets and much more. It is winter in our part of the world, and I've been busy replenishing our (ripped, smelly, worn out) dog blankies with lovely new blankets that are easy care and look great around the house. As shared in our previous post, making blankets is an easy DIY and a great way to customise the size, materials, and style of pet (or people) blankets.

Houseplant Safety for Pet-Friendly Homes

Today is Houseplant Appreciation Day, and if you're a nature-loving animal-loving person (like me!) then you're keen to share you home with both plants and pets. With a little extra knowledge and some strategic placement to avoid unwanted nibbling, knock-overs, or (eek!) potty problems, indoor plants and pets can safely share your space. Not only can houseplants beautify your space, they can also help to purify the air (always helpful with pets...hehehe...), regulate humidity, and boost your well-being.

Tips for Keeping a (Mostly!) Clean Dog-Friendly Home

Collage of dogs making messes and ways to clean the house

As a cat loving neat freak, amalgamating households with a dog owner meant plenty of changes and compromises.  Even Oli wasn't too keen on sharing with his "evil step-mother" at first, but times have definitely changed. Now with two dogs and a cat, there is even more pet chaos and all the mess that goes along with the love. Here are my experiences and a few tips for trying to maintain some semblance of order in a (very) pet-friendly home.

Spotted: DIY Dalmatian Spotted Home Office Decor

I love the Dalmatian dot home decor trend, but being a Dalmatian owner, there is a fine line between a designer look and looking like a complete crazy-dog-lady when it comes to a "spot" of style around the house (and wardrobe). I think that I could get away with incorporating a few of these fab polka dot DIY ideas during my home office / studio makeover. :)
