Here's an introduction to making frozen and chilled treats, safe treat storage, and a few handy tips and tricks.

{RECIPE} Bone Brothsicles Frozen Dog Treats

Bowl of frozen dog treats with bone broth and yogurt on a polka dot napkin

It's officially autumn here in NZ (although I'm hanging onto summer until the equinox!) and this past summer has been a scorcher! Perfect weather for cool yummy gummies and frozen treats. These brothsicles were created along with a batch of bone broth gummy treats (stay tuned for next week's post) when a batch of bone broth didn't set on its own for gelled storage and serving. It was a sizzling summer day, so instead of just freezing it into broth cubes, I decided to stretch it out with a broth ice cream treat and a batch of yummy gummies.

{RECIPE} Super Simple DIY Dog Treats Using Coconut Oil

Paw shaped coconut oil dog treat and pink silicon paw print mold

If you're into supplementing your dogs with coconut oil, here are two of the doggone easiest ways to turn that supplement into treats.  Like my love of gelatin gummies, coconut oil based treats are low-guilt treat in our house, turning dietary supplements into occasional small treats. Win win! I find making simple refrigerated coconut oil treats particularly handy in summer time when coconut oil has a tendency to be liquid at cupboard temperature in many homes (our place included).

These easy three-ingredient apple pie frozen yogurt dog treats are doggone delicious!  It's not pupsicle weather here at the moment (brrr....winter!), but the blog dogs have been busy for months pre-prepping and taste testing (such a difficult duty!) treats so that we can keep the blog active through the chaos of moving prep, relocation, and settling into a new home.  And June is Dairy Month, so we're kicking off with a yummy yogurt treat. {RECIPE} Peanut Butter and Carob Coconut Oil Easter Treats

Homemade Easter dog treats made with Easter egg and paw print molds

Is anyone else a sucker for peanut butter and chocolate? It's one of my personal favourite (human) treat combos, so I couldn't resist combining them into a peanut butter chocolate egg inspired Easter treat.  The treats were created in layers, as shown, but can also be created as a homogeneous mix  if you prefer, or you can adapt to make without the carob and/or peanut butter to suit your dog's sensitivities, palette, and/or your own personal preferences. Easy peasy!  My dogs both enjoy coconut oil straight-up too!

{RECIPE} Golden Milk Puppy Popsicle Frozen Dog Treats

Coconut milk and turmeric dog treats frozen in heart shapes

It is more winter blanket than ice pop weather in our part of the world right now, but I've had this post pre-prepped and waiting to share with our summer friends for a cool treat idea.  These frozen treats combine the key elements of golden milk (without the human sweeteners) into a frosty ice pop.  By layering the treats, the milky top/bottom buffers the turmeric middle layer for easier (less messy) handling and feeding; however, it's super simple to adapt and just combine all of the ingredients instead of a three-part layered process, if you prefer a quicker easier treat.

{RECIPE} “Red Velvet” Doggy Truffle Treats

Homemade red velvet beetroot dog truffle treats on a table with gift bags and bows

These naturally coloured doggy truffles are easy to make and pretty doggone healthy.  The beetroot and coconut oil/flour base gets a delicious boost of puptastic smalls/flavours from the peanut butter and carob, but they also help to deepening of the natural colouring of the mixture into a darker rich velvety red.  Rolled in snowy white coconut, they make a beautiful festive holiday treat!

{RECIPE} Homemade Dog Easter Egg Carob Treats

DIY carob and peanut butter Easter egg dog treats

Today's recipe is ridiculously simple, but insanely dogliscious (and cute too!).  These DIY dog Easter egg "chocolates" were made using an Easter silicone candy mold, but you can use any mold including re-purposing a simple ice-cube tray (preferably flexible for ease of removal) or just make a "chocolate" bark and crack/cut into smaller pieces after hardening. Either way, expect to have very excited dogs circling around your kitchen.
