DIY Gold Silver and Bronze Medal Dog Tug Toys

Homemade gold silver and bronze medal diy fleece dog tug toys

I would say "Let the Games begin!" but around here, the games never end. We have a special collection of Olympic-inspired toys and treats to share with you over the next few weeks.  These medal tug toys are so cute (and fun) and are deceptively simple - two tugs (one for the medal, one for the ribbon) made using our basic box knot woven dog tug toy are knotted together to form each toy.

DIY Multi-Strand Tug Toy with Loop Handle

DIY woven fleece loop and double tug dog toy with Easter treats

When playing with our dogs, I'm often relegated to clinging to whatever drooly end is closest at hand and find myself threading my fingers through the fleece for slippery grip in fierce tugging competitions. This DIY tug toy combines the convenience of a loop with multi-tug tails for multi-dog fun. Our toy has two tails for dual-doggy playtime, but you can add as many as you wish for more dogs or just for fun.

Woven Fleece Carrot Dog Tug Toy

DIY fleece Easter dog tug toy shaped like a carrot

Does your dog love carrots?  Ours do, especially Humphrey - check out the little carrot thief at work!  Although Easter is more typically associated with sweet treats, these is nothing wrong with a crunchy carrot stick every now and then either. For a little interactive fun, why not create your own Easter carrot tug toy?

DIY for Dogs: Square Knot Fleece Loop Tug Toy

Homemade woven fleece dog tug toys on a table with treats

For those of you who loved our square knot fleece dog tug toy (thanks!), you'll be happy to hear that we find ourselves needing to make a new tug toy every month or two, thanks to the destructive dog teamwork of "Sharky McFang" and "Oli the Ripper"!  Oli prefers a nice loop to get his mouth through, so here is a simple little variation for turning a basic square knot fleece dog tug toy into a loop and tail tug toy.

DIY for Dogs: Square Knot Fleece Tug Toy

Dalmatian dog tugging on a homemade woven fleece dog tug toy

As some of you may already have seen on our social media posts, our puppy is much harder on his toys than our older boy ever was. I won't name any brand names here, but some VERY expensive heavy-duty dog toys have lasted for mere minutes in his happy little mouth. I am in no way a pioneer of fleece dog toys (there are many different DIYs out there).  After a number of less than robust attempts, we finally made with a toy that both dogs enjoy and is able to survive for weeks of vigorous play, so we though we would try and share some simple visual instructions to help others who would like to try something similar.
