Who We Are
Dalmatian DIY is a New Zealand based personal pet blog, specialising in dog-related DIYs, recipes, and general pet-friendly living. Our website address is https://www.dalmatiandiy.com. Before we moved to our own domain, Dalmatian DIY was located on Google’s blogspot. Old links and pins from there will redirect visitors here. You can read more about Dalmatian DIY on our About page.
The Privacy Act 2020 is the legal framework that governs the collection, handling, and disclosure of personal data for Dalmatian DIY. The Act was recently revised (2020), but the online world is always evolving and we’ll continue to endeavour to adopt better practices, where feasible. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has good resources for understanding the principals of The Privacy Act and Consumer has also created an easy to understand overview of New Zealand Privacy Law.

In addition to functional data, some of the third-party website elements here on the Dalmatian DIY blog provide an opportunity for us the earn a small revenue, such as providing site space for advertisements. These rely on data to function, but are vital components of keeping this blog free access.

Website Visitor Data Functions
Data makes the site more user-friendly. Data, including cookies, helps with navigation, sharing, and other use of our blog. It also supports simple functions such as stopping our privacy/consent notification from plaguing your visits after you’ve already clicked to dismiss. Yay for cookies! Although let’s be honest. Tasty treats are way more doggone delicious than internet cookies!
Data helps us understand our audience and improve the blog. A key part of data use is helping to understand our traffic. Analytics (website statistics) allow website operators like us to review aggregated information, such as page/post view numbers, referring sources, and a basic breakdown of page views by country. We can then use these analytics to help understand things like popular topics or incoming links so that we can improve the content that we share with you. They also help identify issues or errors with the formatting or delivery of our site.
Data helps us to keep the blog open access and completely free. Advertising and affiliate programs are what helps us offset the cost of creating and running Dalmatian DIY as free access website. Advertising and affiliate programs use data in the form of unique referrer codes and cookie/tag tracking to credit the referring sites. See below for additional information. We also have a detailed Disclosure Policy.
